24/7 Dad® Overview

24/7 Dad® is an evidence-based fatherhood program used by thousands of organizations across the nation to improve the knowledge, behavior, and skills of dads of all races, religions, and demographics. The program is built on the basis that fathers can be nurturers, and for men, nurturing is a learned skill. Throughout the program, men examine their own fatherhood history, learn the 5 characteristics of a 24/7 Dad®, and other important behaviors such as working with mom and proper child discipline to help them be the best dads they can be.

Now in it's Third Edition, 24/7 Dad® has been enhanced to meet requests and suggestions made by facilitators in the field. Research-based additions such as the "My 24/7 Dad Checklist" and it's Android & iPhone app-based counterpart, videos to enhance and add variety to the delivery of the program, father-attendee materials now provided in Spanish, and reference cards in the fathering handbooks prove to bring this program to the next level.

What is the difference between 24/7 Dad® A.M. and P.M.?

Both versions use the same philosophy, background, and structure. The difference lies in the topics that are covered in each version. 24/7 Dad® A.M. covers basic fathering skills and topics while 24/7 Dad® P.M. covers deeper fathering skills and topics.

Most organizations choose to run A.M. first followed by P.M. Or, if your fathers have been through a different fatherhood program that provided basic, fathering information, you may choose to run P.M. as the next step in their fathering journey.

24/7 Dad AM Edition

I am a parent educator for the Fatherhood EFFECT program at BCFS Health and Human Services at the Abilene location. Our agency uses the 24/7 Dad A.M. Edition for all of our Fatherhood classes. This is by far THE best curriculum for dads there is. I currently have classes at 5 different locations around town. Two are at faith based addiction facilities, one at our county jail treatment facility, one at a halfway house for men and one on Dyess Air Force Base. All the men/dads love every lesson. As a facilitator the lessons are very well organized, gives great ideas to help. Since it is a evidence base program, you let the lesson teach itself. Each lesson builds on each other and the topics are spot on. The men in my classes love the lessons because it covers issues they all have. It will have grown men crying in class and coming to me thanking me for the classes. They make a difference and make a positive impact in the lives of these dads/men and are making a positive impact on children and families. As a dad myself of four sons ages 28, 24, 23 (step-son..but I'm dad so I don't call him my "step") and an 8 year old, I wished I had this training years ago. As a facilitator I am constantly learning more myself. In addition to the curriculum, the support you get from NFI is great. They are always there to help. I cannot speak highly enough about NFI and 24/7 Dad. Let's all help to get dads to be more involved in the lives of their kids and families.
