24/7 Dad AM Edition
I am a parent educator for the Fatherhood EFFECT program at BCFS Health and Human Services at the Abilene location. Our agency uses the 24/7 Dad A.M. Edition for all of our Fatherhood classes. This is by far THE best curriculum for dads there is. I currently have classes at 5 different locations around town. Two are at faith based addiction facilities, one at our county jail treatment facility, one at a halfway house for men and one on Dyess Air Force Base. All the men/dads love every lesson. As a facilitator the lessons are very well organized, gives great ideas to help. Since it is a evidence base program, you let the lesson teach itself. Each lesson builds on each other and the topics are spot on. The men in my classes love the lessons because it covers issues they all have. It will have grown men crying in class and coming to me thanking me for the classes. They make a difference and make a positive impact in the lives of these dads/men and are making a positive impact on children and families.
As a dad myself of four sons ages 28, 24, 23 (step-son..but I'm dad so I don't call him my "step") and an 8 year old, I wished I had this training years ago. As a facilitator I am constantly learning more myself. In addition to the curriculum, the support you get from NFI is great. They are always there to help. I cannot speak highly enough about NFI and 24/7 Dad. Let's all help to get dads to be more involved in the lives of their kids and families.
